Default Desktop Backgrounds

I have 5 desktop themes, and of course, only one is active at a time.

I just noticed this:

If I bring up a picture on my screen that I like, say SF Giants, and I "Set
as desktop background", all of the other 4 themes change to SF Giants in
the Personalization window, and only the active theme stays as is.

Basically, I've lost all the other 4 themes, which are now SF Giants.

What's going on?

TIA

And if you click on one of the other, do they change the picture to what
you want (and not what you're seeing)?

Have you tried changing the wallpaper from within the theme window
rather than 'set as desktop'?

Just curious what you've tried?

Not sure what you mean here.

Yes, No problem there. From within the theme window, things 'act' the
way they should.

I tried some more actions to try to nail this behavior down more
succinctly. I noticed that if I do a 'set as desktop', the background
that newly appears in the theme window is named 'unsaved theme'. Now,
say I do another 'set as desktop'. This replaces the previous unsaved
theme. All makes sense so far. But, if I now click on the unsaved
theme in the theme window, and do a 'save theme', and let's say name it
"desert stars", and them go back to the desktop, open another pic of SF
Giants and set as desktop, this SF Giants pic will appear in the theme
window as unsaved theme, and the desert stars will still be named desert
stars, but now have this new SF Giants pic.

Just curious what you've tried?

Not sure what you mean here.

What I was wondering, if after you set a new desktop wallpaper and all
the themes show the Giants picture, what happens if you hit another
theme the is maybe 'trains', do you see the trains wallpaper, or does it
really give you the Giants wallpaper it shows in the theme window?

I hate to say it, but my solution might have been "don't do it by 'set
as wallpaper'". But I haven't seen windows 7 in ages. I use it about
3 times a year and not for wallpaper.

I see. It gives me 'trains'.

I've decided to do just that, but to get pics from my desktop or any
other folder into the themes window, I'm just going to have to copy them
to the theme location
(C:\Users\Boris\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Th emes) first. I
haven't tried this yet (gotta go), but it should work.

Generally, I spend only so much time trying to figure some of these
little annoyances out, and just figure out a workaround. If it's a
serious problem, I'll spend days until I punt.

I could have sworn there was a browse.
