having various problems w/Windows XP...HELP
I am having a couple problems. Primary is that when I am on a screen
(particularly on the internet.) the main page will be active. But then about every 5 seconds or so, the blue bar across the top of the page lightens and that page is no longer active. I have to either click somewhere on the page to reactivate it, or wait about 10 seconds and it reactivates itself. If I am typing it is tremendously irritating because I will type a few letters, then the cursor disappears. I have to either wait the 10 seconds or click where I was typing to get the cursor back. I suspected a virus. Have run virus program though and comes up clean. Do spyware check, same thing. Downloaded all the microsoft updates. Still happens. Anyone have any ideas? |

Good evening, Have you always had this problem? Have you changed any
hardware on your system? i.e. Video Card? Or Video Card software. Does this happen with most of your programs or just internet explorer? Maybe you can adjust your video settings by right cliking the desktop, click properties, click settings, click trouble shoot and there you can adjust hardware acceleration. Move the slider from full to the next tick mark. Restart and see if that fixes the problem. Hope my two cents helps and please let us all know "Lauri" wrote: I am having a couple problems. No I have not always had this problem. Just in the last week or so. And no I
have not done anything new to this computer since buying 2 years ago. That's why I thought it might be a virus. I will try your suggestion though and let you know. Thanks. I tried your suggestion. I cannot find where to adjust the hardware
acceleration. When I to into settings and then click troubleshoot, it does not give me that option. It simply asks me what I am having trouble with. Then it lists 5 or 6 different options, none of which cover my problem. There is no place to adjust the acceleration rate. "Jim" wrote: Good evening, Have you always had this problem? thanks...found it. I installed new virus program and it found several
trojans. I got rid of them and want to see if this fixes the problem. If not, I will try your suggestion. Thanks again. having various problems w/Windows XP...HELP
Happy Friday, Im glad you foun the problems and the hardware acceleration. I
must thank you for posting the results. Curious tho, u said you ran a virus and found none, but that you ran another virus program and found several. What anti virus program were you using before and now? "Lauri" wrote: thanks...found it. I installed new virus program and it found several trojans. having various problems w/Windows XP...HELP
I had AVG free edition. Was great at first, but seemed to now be missing
viruses (even though I updated frequently). I now have McAfree and seems to have located at least these viruses. Who knows? I hope this one works for a while! I'll keep yo posted.
