No Video for certain filetypes/codecs
Hi,
I'm having a strange issue. I bought Overlord a long time ago and after I installed it I could no longer see certain video files when I played them. These were avi, MPG and WMV files. I would try to play them in Windows Media Player (latest one for XP), Media Player Classic (which comes with FDD Show) and BS Player. Quicktime and Realplayer (QT, RTM, RM) videos played fine in their respective players. If I totally disabled Hardware Accelleration (disabled Dirext X), I could then see all videos. I tried uninstalling FDD Show, BS Player, Media Player Classic and made sure I only had DivX installed but still the problem persisted. I also used DXDiag to see if there were any problems and none were reported. When I was through playing Overlord I uninstalled it, restored to a system restore point prior to installing the game and the problem went away and I fogot about it. Recently I bought and installed Age of Conan, and the problem has reappeared. I am going to be playing AoC for a while so I'm not going to be uninstalling it anytime soon. I have an NVidia Geoforce 7900GS video card. DirectX 9.0c. Does anyone have any idea where I might go from here? -- Tom B. |
