Default How do I get more video memory?

You go to a local store; Best Buy, Circuit City, etc and you BUY a video
card that comes with more memory than the amount on the card you are
presently using.

Unfortunately that is the only option. Video ram is built into the video
card. You can not simply add memory to this card. You must purchase a card
with more videoram.

There is more to video than you have been told.
Early VIDEO controller cards came with 1 MB (megabyte) of memory.
Many had empty memory spaces for upgrade to 2 MB.
With prices soaring to $100 per megabyte costs seemed quite high.
With the introduction from INTEL@ of the ATX form factor motherboard
many manufacturers began integrating the VIDEO CARD function onto the
motherboard.
These integrated VIDEO Controller chips shared (stole) memory capacity from
the
main memory ram? chips.

the amount of memory shared is adjustable in your BIOS Setup.
(board input/output setup)
Depending on where you live and who you know a whole new motherboard or even
computer might be obtained for $20 to $40 which might have shared memory
aounts of 32MB or 64MB or even 128 MB.

Obviously if you only have 192 MB of main memory and you borrow 128 MB your
computer will run very slooooowly.

But take heart , more powerful video options are opening up for you every
minute as the wealthy folks are throwing out there nice machines for all the
power and capacity needed to operate with the "VISTA@" system.
