Messenger NOT logging in by itself
I will try that. I'm working on my desktop computer today. By occasional
testing of re-logging into WinXP, I've actually seen Messenger log in twice on its own....out of about 10 times. So it may be a intermittent problem somewhere, though mostly chronic. ;^) "Jonathan Kay [MVP]" wrote in message ... Hi Chris, Have you tried a reinstall of Windows Messenger? To do so, close down Messenger (right click the messenger icon in the notification area/system tray and click close). Then click the start button, then click Run and type in (copy-paste if you like): RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove Then click OK. Messenger will then be uninstalled. I went one step farther and disabled NAV2003 Auto-Protect and logged back in to WinXP again; Messenger still didn't automatically log in. I'm seeing the same problem on my WinXP laptop.
