cannot install printer driver software successfully with XP
I'm not quite sure myself, but I'd guess that you don't have a Java Virtual
Machine installed. Microsoft has been in dispute about Java with Sun, with the result that MS has pulled it from their download site. However, it's still available for download. See: http://java-virtual-machine.net/download.html (sorry about the pop-ups, but they're no too bad. The download is a bit smaller than 6 MB.) You may wish to install the security update for the virtual machine. I believe that it'll show up at Windows Update once you have the JVM installed. Or, get the court-approved version from Sun. HTH. Please help - I bought a HP all in one printer, scanner, copier and followed the installation instructions to a tee but I get an error message that says that the installation encountered an error because my Java Virtual Machine is an unregistered class. I have no idea what this means. I tried to find info on Microsoft.com about Java Virtual Machine but didn't have luck. The HP tech support folks were no help. Anyone know what I should do? thank you!! |
