Default Captured video records sounds, doesn't play it back

I have tried capturing VHS video into movie maker. During capture, the video
is fine and the sound plays, but when I try to play back the video, I get no
sound. I have played around with the "audio levels" with no success.

Everything should be hooked up okay-- when I capture video with Ulead Movie
Factory, it plays back with sound. Unfortunately, when I try and edit those
saved avi files in Movie Maker, they play back upside down.

Any help is greatly appreciated

Steve

Steve,
Have you resolved this issue? I had a similar issue when capturing with
from a video camera that I resolved. Try going to the top of your window and
clicking on Clip - Audio and make sure it is not muted there. Also, did you
check the "set audio levels" down by the storyboard after you did your drag
and drops. You can set it to have sound from video or sound from other
sources. Hope this helps you.

I am having a similar same problem but I get no sound on capture. I am
capturing through a VCR and the video is fine. I have in the past captured
through the TV hooked in to my media center through Satelltie TV and had
sound and video, no problem. I was able to capture both audio and video from
an 8 mm camera plugged into the composite and video RCA type ports I am
trying to use for the VCR and that ran fine. I have changed the source to
every selection in the audio input selection to see if that is the problem
and the results were the same. I also made sure that all my input and output
volumes on the computer were engaged and turned up. My other files still
play sound fine, so the output settings are okay. Anyone have a clue how to
resolve this?

I found the solution to my problem at this location. Maybe it will help you.
It seems that for the analog sound to come in you have to use the line in
with the adapter. I also used RCA plug for the video. My sound is very low
but I am working on resolving that portion on my computer. You can right
click on the audio line and go to volume and turn it all the way up there
after capture and get some sound. I had none before I did that and now I
have at least some.

Turns out that I had overlooked the sound input level on the menu of options
when you first select capture video. I feel pretty dumb for overlooking
this-- but the program is also pretty dumb to have a default input level at
the very bottom of the scale. Thanks for your help!!!

Hi! Sorry, that I don't have an anser to your question, but perhaps you can
help me! How did you connect your VCR to your PC?
I have a TV-Tuner installed and I bought me a cable with a TV-Out connection
and a connection to my Soundcard!
When I start Windows Movie Maker, it doesn't recognize the VCR, but only the
TV-Tuner! Normally, there has to be my VCR, no? When I start the preview
there's only a black picture or it is grey, like when there's no signal.Do
you know what I mean?
Please help me
