Default File explorer problem

I just updated with the latest NET and cumulative 64 bit update
(KB4551762).

Now reads: Version 1909 (OS Build 18363.720)

Now I am having problems apparently with file explorer. The first time
I tried to open a directory to find a file, it took minutes.
Eventually the file list filled in, and after that it seemed to work
OK for other directories on that drive.

If I clicked on an icon to load a program, it again took minutes for
it to load and start.

When I looked at the directory for an attached USB drive, that also
took minutes for the first list, but then worked Ok for subsequent
listings.

Just uninstall the updates? Both or just one of them?

Gun control is like trying to reduce drunk driving by making it tougher for sober people to own cars.

I did the same 2 weeks ago.
Mine also now reads Version 1909 (OS Build 18363.720)

FYI I am not seeing those problems.

It could be your AV wanting to scan all the files.
When you open a directory, File Explorer wants to access files to get
icons and file metadata for the file list. Your AV may want to have
scanned the files once before it lets File Explorer access them.

I have seen this kind of slowness on work computers in previous jobs,
running a different anti-virus to the one I run at home.

I would think it is unlikely for a NET update (in this case KB4534132) to
cause this.

Before uninstalling anything, I would first check if your AV has an
updated version which might work better with Windows 10 version 1909.

I tried those things, which did not help. So I restored the backup I
made before the update. It had the same problem. So, not the fault of
the update. I did a chkdsk /f/ /r /b which took a long time. When I
looked at it ,it was saying something to the effect of Repairing
disk, Stage 5. So apparently there was something to repair. Then I
restored the backup again. Everything seems to be working now, but I'm
thinking I should probably replace that drive.
