Default laptop will not start

My sister's 3 year old laptop will not start in any configuation. She cannot
find her original XP Home Edition cd. Can she get a copy from Microsoft or
can I use my wife's laptop disc to fault find or even repair her installation?

Hi George,
Can you explain further what stage the Laptop reach and stop or prevent you
from reaching the Log on Screen?

It could be the HDD gone or a memory gone bad.
My Advice, if you are not into tech try to take the Laptop to your Local
Repair shop to fix it for you.
BTW what your Sister's Laptop Model and your wife's Laptop Model?
