Default Thunderbird 68.7

Just updated and now message filters don't work.

Had to go back to 68.4 and immediately disable auto update.

Has anyone else had the problem or is it just me

No big deal, just curious

Using Win10

Also tried 68.7 on my Linux machine and though message filters work,
Thunderbird occasionally bogs down or stops responding completely

Didn't Mozilla fire their QA staff ? :-)

I have upgraded to 68.7 and have not had any problem with email or
newsgroups. All of my filters are working.

Thanks

Since I have several dual boot machines , I guess if I expect to be on
Usenet a lot I'll use one with no problems.

Thanks

I don't know. After years of using Thunderbird this was the first time
I've seen a glitch.

I uninstalled Thunderbird and deleted my profile then did a fresh
install of 68.7 and all is well now.

On this machine I only use Thunderbird to monitor a few new groups.
Don't even use it for mail, so a new profile was not a big deal to create.

The OP is a regualr moaner/nym-shifter so the best thing is to ignore
him.Â* Nothing works for him.

We have seen many trolls here recently and their plan is to destroy this
newsgroup like they have done to other newsgroups.

I don't have any problems either.

It seems to be working well on most of my machines

but on the one that gave me problems , after going back and forth I went
back to 68.4 and turned off updating.

One of these days though I am going to get some better h/w. It's a cheap
mobo/cpu combo

Thunderbird is no longer a Mozilla product.

The latest corporate governance.

https://blog.thunderbird.net/2020/01...irds-new-home/

January 28, 2020:

"the Thunderbird project will be operating from a new
wholly owned subsidiary of the Mozilla Foundation,
MZLA Technologies Corporation."

"Update: A few of you have asked how to make a contribution
to Thunderbird under the new corporation, especially
when using the monthly option. Please check out our
updated site at give.thunderbird.net"

Which means, I would guess in a business sense, that if "TB"
goes bankrupt, it has no impact on the mother ship.
That's why it's legally separated. Mozilla finances are
such (income versus expenses), that they cannot afford
"overhang" in their operating structure. Mozilla has
a large income, but for some reason, has a large expense.
Mozilla headcount 1000, while making Firefox (and trying to
make a services business). Mozilla fired 70 people in January
(numbers only approximate, because some of those people
moved elsewhere in the corporation). The January thing
is the start of a cleanup. I would expect more axing,
or new-hire-cutoff behaviors there, in line with the
finances. Expect fewer muffin baskets. Or carrot cakes.

Ijust went to the Thunderbird website, and started a download. It still
shows it is downloading 68.7.

Not on my end.

Just installed 68.7 it on another machine.

As it turned out , part of the problem I was having with lag of the
filter which I use to get rid of Usenet trolls was due to the number of
posts.

There was on in particular that took a long time simply because there
were hundreds of posts to delete.

Yes.

My only peeve was that it automatically downloaded a 32bit version
without stating what it was. I had to specifically look for a 64 bit version

I doubt it really makes much difference though
