It's a bit of computer guy humor, when a
computer is "too much of a good thing".

The behavior of your BIOS is atrocious.

I removed the good HD(Win7) and put in
the bad HD(Win7) tried to do a restore
btw the label I put on the external HD
with the Mrimgs didn't show up in Macrium
although for some reason it's clearly
labeled from the destination.

I think I messed up royally,.. I should
of selected build rescue media and now it
wont boot into Windows at all. So what can
I do to recover or is this HD toast?

Before I look at the pictures, does the drive
containing the backups boot ?

Alternately, try booting Windows 10 and
make the Macrium media there. Select WinPE10
from the optional menu. *Don't* let it sniff
for a WinPE to steal off an existing hard
drive. I already told you about my ruined
CD, when it grabbed a 32 bit WinPE to make
64 bit media (Macrium could not start after
the CD booted).

Since a Macrium CD made on Windows 10 will know
what drivers to use, it should be fine for all purposes.

With the Win10 hard drive booted,

https://www.macrium.com/reflectfree # the main page

# Get a copy of the V7 downloader.

https://updates.macrium.com/reflect/v7/ReflectDLHF.exe

Now, run the downloader EXE, and select the desired items.

https://i.postimg.cc/1z9T7BFL/Macriu...-Windows10.gif

You should be able to make a CD for it on Windows 10.

*******

Your list of pictures is positively scary.

Close to another train wreck, I see :-)
(Possibly another attempt to overwrite the backup drive ???)

Try making yourself a CD, so we can turn
this train around before it is too late.

I hope your hard drives are labeled with marker
pen, so you know which is which. I use a lot of
marker pen here :-)

I believe the external backup with the Mrimgs is formatted to boot
but I'm not going to risk loosing everything just for a HD on the 780!
I still have the good drive I can put back.

What do you mean another train wreck writing over the backup drive?
I thought I did it right except for my mistake of building the rescue CD?

I label the drives but what good is labeling when I keep getting it wrong
on Macrium ? I looked for the identifiers and wrote it all down but it still
looks the same to me. The source says its my Mrimgs so how am I screwing
up?

Navigating in Win10 isn't easy. I'm downloading the Rescue CD information
now.

Man this is not easy and Win10 doesn't help. I downloaded
the file and tried to copy/paste it. Obviously that doesn't
work and then found the burn command but it did nothing and when
it says there are files to be downloaded I have no idea where to
find them?

I really don't know what I'm doing here and just guessing.

Also, once I get the rescue CD I need to fully understand
the Mrimg problem because this time I thought I did it right
with the exception of building the rescue CD and it didn't
come up with any message of the drive being busy so I don't
understand how I was about to write over the external drive?

Also, once I get the rescue CD I need to fully understand
the Mrimg problem because this time I thought I did it right
with the exception of building the rescue CD and it didn't
come up with any message of the drive being busy so I don't
understand how I was about to write over the external drive?

Robert

How do I get it to burn the CD? I don't have
Image burn on the 780. If that is what's needed
could you please provide a download link for it?

Thanks,
Robert

You're racing way way ahead.

*******

You're supposed to download two files.

Your stub downloader has defaulted to your home directory
and its "Download" folder. That's as good a place as any.

You select just the Macrium application as one download
session. A 40MB file is the result.

You select the WinPE10 as the second download item,
requiring a second download operation. It goes into
the Download folder too.

The end result should be these two files.

https://i.postimg.cc/T1rwqW4Y/prelim...-downloads.gif

*******

Now, install Macrium by running the EXE file you downloaded.
It should also notice the ZIP file with WADK kit sitting
next to the EXE.

Next, run the Macrium program and select the option to create
Rescue Media from the menu. (Because my environment is a VM,
I can't simulate the making of the CD itself.)

Macrium has a CD burner package inside it, which is
sufficient for write-once media.

I'm having trouble even understanding let alone
racing ahead. I found the file you indicated
and I downloaded it but you said nothing about two
files. I only saw what you showed me nothing else.

It asked where I wanted it to go so I choose
downloads as good as any other place.

I've already downloaded the Macrium free version

I will try again

I tried it again and when I downloaded the free Macrium 7
and selected Save but it didn't give me any options of where
to save it. I checked downloads and it shows only the Macrium
folder but only the PE10 file is there and the Reflect DLHF
but I see no V7.2,4325.

When you're finished, there should be two files.

A large ZIP file, containing the WinPE10 WADK kit.

A smaller EXE file, containing the Macrium installer.

Install Macrium using the two files, into your Win10 OS.

Run Macrium and select the Rescue Media option.

In the Advanced settings of the Media Creation pane,
set the kit used, to the Win10PE WADK kit you downloaded.

It will take a while to make the ISO file.

There should be a later dialog to run the optical
drive and burn a CD. I didn't test that part.

In your picture, you should be looking inside the Macrium folder.
The stub download program, has a line in the screen which
shows where the download is going. It tacks "Macrium"
on the end of that path, to determine the final storage
location.

I did look inside the Macrium folder and there's only one file there.
As I said when I downloaded/saved Macrium it doesn't give me any option
of where it goes and all I see are the DLHF's but I see no V7 anywhere.

Each time you run the stub downloader, the display
shows a path, in roughly the middle of the window.

It's likely going to put the files in the same folder.

Now, all you need, is the "installer only" item
from the pulldown menu. You have the WinPE10 item (ZIP),
and just need the installer file. The "bitness" of
the items should all match.

I tried again but it isn't generating the V7 file
only the DLHF. Everytime I click the link you gave

You have one copy of DLHF on your hard drive now.

Go to the folder where that is stored, and
double-click it to run the DLHF.

In the DLHF menu, use the pulldown that selects
which file to download. Select "Installer only"
and untick the "install immediately" thing.

What should happen, is the ZIP file you have
now in a "Macrium" folder, should be joined by
the "installer only" you're going to download now.

The stub downloader does the downloading.

No more web browsers, please...
You do not need, nor should you be using
a web browser at this time.

By running DLHF, you will get it to fetch the needed file.
