Reason of not using system clock is spys look at time zone of system.

Clock must not use Windows system time!

I don't need to know your time zone to know that you are posting from
Hong Kong.

I didn't notice. If you read threadview rather

you could also follow the course of the discussion.

Response to Libor Striz

The disadvantage would be your system would use a fake time.

That is more advantage!!!!!!

Possibility clocks?????

The whole thread has gone off topic. It's not OS related and
freeware to change your clock so you stick out like a sore thumb ....
nah.

I managed to get this running, but could not
conquer the setting of offsets. Once you set the machine
time zone to Singapore, it's all downhill from there :-)

https://www.javacodex.com/Swing/Digital-Clock

javac DigitalClock.java
java DigitalClock === accesses DigitalClock.class ?

I tested in a VM, for the insulation value.

Oh, I got it to display "weird time values", but when
I'm finished, I have to justify the code I've written,
and so far, haven't managed to do that. All the library
calls seem to change representations, rather than applying
actual offsets. And I don't want to try the ham-handed
approach of adding 3600 seconds to something either.
That's cheating. I want to be able to enter "Canada/Eastern"
and have the program produce correct local time, not monkey
with multiples of 3600 second offsets "until it looks right".

I wasn't bothered; I was really posting for others' benefit (a) so they
knew it might not work (b) so they knew that it wasn't a clip of how to
change your timezone (not all newsreaders show a changed subject line,
and even on ones that do, readers often don't notice it has changed).

Maybe try C++ {clocx}? http://www.clocx.net/about.php
Set clocx independent TZ to "(UTC-05:00)Eastern Time (US & Canada)."

Nope, AFAIK, our resident wacko lives (FSVSVO 'lives') in California.

Any?

1) Write a program.

2) wget of

http://www.whattimeisit.com/cgitime.exe?Mode=FullList

A search on "torwget" indicates people have thought about it.
You could find a version of torwget() to operate whattimeisit.com.
You only need to make one call when your clock program starts.

https://github.com/shibumi/torwget/b...ter/torwget.py

What makes you think tor is needed? 'Arlen' uses normal direct
Internet access all the time. Maybe via a VPN, but normally not via tor.

While wget would work, it's quite over the top IMO. After all, isn't
NTP designed for what he 'needs'?

3) Grep the line from the file that is applicable.

Print the value to your console session.

Save the value for later usage.

Now, use the system high performance clock, to add an offset
to the WhatTimeIsIt synchronization information. Sleep(60).
Loop forever (slowly) giving updated times, using the
whattimeisit baseline to solve the issue of having to enter the
true time when the program starts.

__int64 time1 = 0, time2 = 0, freq = 0;
QueryPerformanceCounter((LARGE_INTEGER *) &time1);
QueryPerformanceFrequency((LARGE_INTEGER *)&freq);

QueryPerformanceCounter((LARGE_INTEGER *) &time2);
printf("t=%010.6f\n", (float)(time2-time1)/freq); === time in seconds???

Add the number of seconds, to the original whattimeisit time.

And so on.

See the fun you could have ?

If you are a good programmer, you should be able
to write a console clock in less than one page of code.
Which is the only size of program I am able to write.
You don't need fancy graphics for your computer program,
just printf() to Command Prompt console is sufficient.

I use MINGW x32 original fork, as my compiler for little
projects like this. Your choice will be determined by where
you can get a working torwget().

Paul
