I have two questions:
1. I cannot get either the Guest User or a new user
profile to work anymore on my Welcome screen (Windows XP
Home edition). At present there are two users both set up
as computer administrators, but when I try to open a new
account (limited, administrator, or guest account on) it
doesn't work. When I click on them, either the screen
turns blue and then returns to the welcome screen, or I
get this message: "profile cannot be loaded. Check that
you are connected to network or that network is working
properly". I do not have a network.

2. Norton Antivirus pops up lately (maybe there is a
connection) and it says "cannot read subscription data.
You may need administrator priviledges".

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance,
Aniko

Sounds grim and maybe a virus!
Maybe hit F5 safe mode and try removing all users then replace them.
Safe mode provides logon as true administrator.
Maybe use my help links:
