Go to control panel and click on the system icon,in
system properties window click on hardware tab, then click
on device manager. In device manager look for sound video
and game controllers and click on the + and it will
expand to show all your audio devices.Look for a colored
mark, like ? or ! and if you find one, click on it and
click the troubleshoot button, this will walk you through
some checks.If this don't help, go to;
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp.htm
click on "Where did my sound go".This gets a little more
into the problem. Also, while you are in the device
manager,it would not hurt for you to click the update
driver or new driver buttons on your sound devices to
make sure they are up to date....Good luck.

Skip, I promise I'll quit bugging you and thanks for
your patience with me! I did as you said, but when I
wanted to click onto 'place volumn icon in the taskbar'
it did nothing. This area is faded and I can't do
anything in this area. Above this setting it says "No
Audio Device" Did I lose something important when I
upgraded? Do you think it is something I can retrieve?

Thank You so much,

Lacy
