SFC in XP-Pro Fails to work
My OS is WinXP-Pro with SP1 installed via a download file.
I am having too many crashing type problems, some nasty, and hence am trying to run SFC. SFC starts and pronptly stops to advise that I need to install the "original" SP1 CD sio that it can populate the dllcache folder, which happens to have over 500MB contents. I have tried extracting the SP1 files to a CD, but that didn't satisfy SFC either. Where to next? Help appreciated! C. |

SFC in XP-Pro Fails to work
As long as you do not delete the Windows directory that contains the
downloaded Service Pack files, SFC will use the updated SP files when running SFC. MS-MVP Kelly Theriot has the explanation you are looking for. Visit http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_s.htm and scroll way down to "SP1 - System File Checker". --=20 Nicholas -------------------------------------------------------------------------= "Charlie" wrote in message: ... | My OS is WinXP-Pro with SP1 installed via a download file. |=20 | I am having too many crashing type problems, some nasty, | and hence am trying to run SFC.
