Default Screen resolution

My screen is flat, high definition, 19 inches. My normal resolution is 1280
by 1024 and 32-bit colour. Recently it has taken to reverting to lowest
definition - 800 by 600 and 16-bit colour - about one second after the
desktop appears. When I reset to normal the screen is stable, but the next
time I boot or reboot I am back to minimum. The drivers appear to be in
order. Is there a way of getting the screen resolution to stay where I set
it, and where it has been for the last year?

Actually... (blush)... I sorted this one myself a few hours later. I went to
the Nvidia site and downloaded the VERY latest drivers, and Lo all was well.
Thanks for responding anyway.

I've got the same problem, in the sence that the screen resolution is
reset to a lower setting, which mainly happens during start up of the
computer. I did install a new program before this all occurred, but
what drivers am I supposed to update? And is this solely a matter of
updating drivers or can it be a virus in the start up?
