Default DSL connection and multiple accounts

My friend has DSL but has to connect to it each time she starts up.
Also, she has multiple accounts, so when she switches accounts, she
has to reconnect (She uses StartConnect To).

My computer automatically connects to DSL (apparently my DSL modem may
be a bridge router or something although it is usually just called a
DSL modem). I've never used multiple accounts, but if I did, and I
switched between accounts, would it automatically reconnect?

This was partly answered in the thread below, but I am new at this:

Your friend has a DSL connection through modem which she has to start each
time she logs in.
You're using router and modem, but your router is responsible for automatic
DSL connection.
Your router is probably set to connect on demand and disconnect if idle for
x period of time. This means that if you would switch through user accounts
you would automatically have access to internet since router would still be
connected.

My modem is a Zoom 5615 and is called a "bridge modem" - is that
another name for modem+router?

Thanks for the help.
