Default Renaming a xp home

Just an interesting observation....when I rename an existing account on my xp
home laptop to match my xp pro desktop it doesn't allow me to connect to the
pro network shares(match meaning same name and pass). When I create a new
user with the same name and pass it does let met connect. Does anyone have
any ideas on why the name change doesn't "take"? Don't get me wrong the name
does physically change locally on the laptop it just doesn't let me connect
to the pro machine without entering credentials--- sort of like logging on to
a share when you are on as another user or guest. No worries on this one just
curious if anyone knows the answer. b.t.w this has happen to me on 2 separate
WORKGROUPS. Thanks.

Because when you just change the name by renaming, you don't change the
underlying account, which has all the information from the old user.
It's always better to create the new account.
