I am in a deep trouble, help
Dear all,
I get my PC permanently reboots after a service pack gets applied. I have try anything I have find out the web based on this issue but no luck. Even when I was trying to enter the recovery console, when selecting the operating system to enter, then it reboots. So as a lst chance I have started to repair boot system files by booting from original Cd and then press ener to istall windows and then pres R on the existing installation found. So far so good except that at the timeit reboot to restart normally, I am prompt with the following message : "The file 'asms' of the Service Pack 1 CD for Windows XP professionnal is needed". I do not have this CD in hands and cannot continue . I have download the ISO image of the Win Pro XP1 (250 mb) and burn it, and try it but no luck, the CD or the content is not recognized. Does anyone could prompt me to proper ISO file for doanlowd and the way to name or burn the CD in order it is recognozed ? I need the french version of if Thnaks for help regards serge serge |

Make certain that your disk drive has the space required, at least 2GB for a
PC that is fully loaded with applications. This 2GB does not include the recommended 15% free disk space requirement for Windows XP. Install SP3 in 'Clean Boot' mode: How to configure Windows XP to start in a "clean boot" state http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310353 See the section titled: Manual steps to perform a clean boot in Windows XP, skipping step 4. Why clean boot: A "Clean Boot" insures that only a minimal set of Windows Services and applications are running. This means your Anti Virus software, third party Firewall and other background applications will not be running; thereby reducing the chances that installing SP3 will fail. Just remember to undo the "Clean Boot" changes after installing SP3. Do not use the Windows Update web site, if at all possible download the service pack installation file directly to your hard drive and install SP3 using the file you downloaded. Where to download the SP3 installation file: (File is large but will only install components that your PC requires) http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...DisplayLang=en Steps to take before you install Windows XP Service Pack 3 Recommends steps to take before you install Windows XP Service Pack 3. Also includes troubleshooting information and error codes. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/950717/en-us XP SP3: Post Installation Cleanup: http://www.aumha.net/viewtopic.php?f=62&t=33827 Error message after you upgrade a computer that uses a processor other than an Intel processor to Windows XP Service Pack 2 or to Windows XP Service Pack 3: "STOP: 0x0000007E" http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=953356 This is the patch to fix the above issue "For non-Intel processors" ***Must be applied before installing SP3*** http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en You receive a "Stop 0x0000007E" error message after you upgrade to Windows XP Service Pack 2 or Service Pack 3 on a non-Intel-processor-based computer. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/888372 From: Jesper Johansson's blog Does your AMD-based computer boot after installing XP SP3? (Affects AMD-based computers with OEM images, primarily HP Desktops) http://msinfluentials.com/blogs/jesp...ng-xp-sp3.aspx -- JS http://www.pagestart.com "calderara" wrote in message ...
