Default lock screen
I want to change the default lock screen. I did this once before, but I
don't remember how. As I recall, the original DLS was of a cave on a beach. It's now of two people running into water wearing wetsuits. I believe I changed it before the Anniversary update came out. My web search finds some potential solutions that don't work for me, mainly a registry edit that adds a key and value pointing to the picture (I don't have the exact key handy right now.) Anyway, it doesn't work. I am able to change my Personal lock screen. Anybody know how to do this? Am I missing something, or is this a bug in Windows 10 Anniversary edition, or is it by Microsoft's design? |

When you click Browse from the Lock Screen, to see thumbnails of the pictures you must click the down arrow on the Icon in the upper right of the screen. From this icon you can select four sizes of thumbnails or Details. This works similarly to the View Tab in File Explorer. |

There is a limited things you can do to that screen. As I understand about the only thing you can do is change the picture in the circle on the screen. I have put my name, address and telephone in that circle. To change it go to All Settings, Accounts, Your Information. You can use the camera to add a picture, or you can browse for an image to put into that circle. |

You're describing the *PERSONAL* lock screen. I'm talking about the *default* system lock screen that you see when you first boot up the computer. That lock screen shows only the time and the background picture. After you click that screen or hit a key, *then* you see the personal lock screen with the user picture in the circle. The personal lock screen background and user picture can be changed in the Settings menu. I have, in the past, somehow changed the default lock screen picture and it's now not the default one. However, I don't know how, or I'm not able to change it again. Maybe it was something that was possible before the Anniversary Update but not since? Is that a bug, or by design, or am I just missing the method? |

When I log out or reboot, it returns to the most recent account's lock screen. I haven't seen the default Windows screen since setting personal screens for all the accounts. -- best regards, Neil |

alt.comp.os.windows-10: Settings Personalization Lock screen Scroll all the way down to the bottom Show lock screen background picture on the sign-in screen set to On Well, that's not the effect I'm looking for. What that does is make the picture you've chosen for the sign-in screen also appear in back of the log-on screen. What I'm unsuccessfully trying to do is change the (system default, not my personal) lock screen picture itself. Still, I double-checked that setting and it was already on. |
