Turn on your firewall prior to connecting to the Internet?

Well, that would keep them from getting infected, but they obviously already
ARE infected.

When the message (Blaster I am Assuming) comes up telling you it is going to
shutdown in 60 seconds, act fast:

WindowsKey+R or Start-Run

type in the following:

shutdown /a

and press enter or click ok. This will abort the shutdown in progress..

Then get that Antivirus software updated, get that machine patched, run the
MSBlaster and Welchia fix utilities from Symantec.com, scan it for
spyware/adware and turn on and leave on that firewall.

You will also have to turn off system restore, reboot, and then turn it back
on.
