Default I am lost!! HELP!

I need to reformat the c: drive on my computer. A friend once showed me how
to do this, and I have long since forgot. I know there is something I need
to do while the computer is booting up before Windows starts up, but I can't
remember for the life of me. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!!

Take it to a repair place to get this done. There is far far far more to
this subject than merely getting the computer to boot from the CD.

Where do you get this idea from. The bits you can remember - forget them. It is
very rare that you have to format a drive unless you have been meddeling with
the contents and not made a note of what you have done.

Get your friend to do it for you or your computer will probably not work again
for months :-)

To avoid grizzlies, the Alaska Department of Fish & Game
advises hikers to wear noisy little bells on clothes and carry pepper spray,
also watch for signs of activity:
Black bear scat is smaller and contains berries; grizzly scat has little bells
in it and smells like pepper.

I assume you mean reformat and reinstall Windows. How do you know you
need to do this? It is *very* seldom true that this is required.

Just boot from the Windows XP CD (change the BIOS boot order if
necessary to accomplish this) and follow the prompts for a clean
installation (delete the existing partition by pressing "D" when
prompted, then create a new one).

You can find detailed instructions he

Why do you think you need to format the C drive?

Is all data from that drive backed up? All of it will be lost if you
proceed with formatting.
