Default Fax Console missing...

What messages did you get when you installed the Fax Service?
What analog fax modem are you using and is it on the Windows XP HCL list?

Hey all,
OK, after trying many times to get this to work...I'm writting you all.
I've installed the XP disk and added the "fax" feature that wasn't

downloaded initially. I click on "start", "all programs", "accessories",
"communications" then highlight "fax". But, it says "empty", no "fax
console" is there.
How can I get fax console so I can use the fax feature?
Thanks for your help!
Mac :-)

I didn't get any message. It appeared to install fine.
Not sure of the modem, I'm at work right now. How can I find XP's HCL

list?
Thanks!

But shouldn't the "console" be installed regardless of what kind of moden?
I could understand the fax not working but all I'm trying to do is get my "fax console" to show.
Thanks Russ.

No. The Fax Service will only install and work correctly with certain analog
fax modems. In theory, those modems on the Windows HCL list will work. That
theory has yet to be proven, however.
