Windows Messenger, no SIP account option
The standard version of Windows messnger did not have the option for a
SIP account, so I uninstalled it, and installed 5.1 which I confirmed on a 2003 server machine did have sip enabled. I have uninstalled, and rebooted, and re-installed version 5.1 multiple times with no success of allowing the option for a SIP account. I even resorted to uninstalling, re-installing and then installing SP2 still to no avail. Details: Windows XP SP1 (now SP2) Windows Messnger 5.1 No option to use a SIP account is available on the Accounts tab. If more details are required please let me know and I will be happy to provde them. |

Windows Messenger, no SIP account option
Greetings,
Actually it was added in 4.6, then removed again in 4.7 and brought back in 5.x. Yes, it was ridiculous. ____________________________________________ Jonathan Kay Microsoft MVP - Windows Messenger/MSN Messenger Associate Expert http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/expertzone/ Messenger Resources - http://messenger.jonathankay.com All posts unless otherwise specified are (c) 2005 Jonathan Kay. Windows Messenger, no SIP account option
What version of messenger are you using? You need to download messenger 5.0.
Also be aware that there is a difference between MSN Messenger and Messenger. Andrew "Tara" wrote: I did all that was described above, and I still don't have the option for SIP.
