Default MSN Messenger, Windows Messenger

Using MSN messenger, I get a popup window that states I've logged on to
another computer and in my task bar it shows I've logged into Windows
messenger, which automatically closes my MSN messenger. Can I remove Windows
messenger from my computer and still have MSN messenger work?

I'm also confused, is Windows Live Messenger, an upgrade to Windows
messenger or MSN messenger?
Help anyone, I'm lost!
Arlene

Greetings Arlene,

As long as you don't mind losing Remote Assistance, Whiteboard or Application Sharing within
MSN Messenger, you can simply uninstall Windows Messenger by clicking the Start button, then
click Run and type in (copy-paste if you like):
RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove

Then click OK.
Messenger will then be uninstalled. For more detailed instructions and screenshots, go to,

Windows Live Messenger is an upgrade to MSN Messenger, it has nothing to do with "Windows
Messenger".
