Default importing to Windows movie maker

I have a Creative Digital VCR with a mpg convertor .i have captured and
converted from my anologue vcr and now I need to import into Windows Movie
Maker.I get a message saying these files can't be imported.Please help

Default importing to Windows movie maker

MPG files don't work well if at all in Movie Maker.
Convert them to AVI first and import the AVI's
