Default Some DVDs fail to play

My laptop will only play older DVDs, newer releases are not recognised at
all. They do not appear when I look in my computer or in either Windows or
Dell media player. I have attempted to updated the driver but Windows says I
have the lastest version. The troubleshooter suggests a problem with the
decoder, so I have down loaded a trial version of PowerDVD v7.0 but again the
disc is not recognised. Any ideas?

Can the firmware in the DVD player be updated?

Go to the support website of your DVD
Player's mfg. and search for updates.
