Playing MPEG-2 In WinXP Pro
I have home movies that I loaded into my computer and made into MPEG-2 files.
I downloaded an MPEG-2 codec for WinXP and compressed the files. I'm having problems playing them because they start off smooth in Media Player and then slowly get choppy, as if I have too many programs running (which I don't). They won't even load in Winamp or Quicktime. Does anyone have any idea on why they aren't playing through properly? I've freed up memory and space (I have plenty), so I can't understand what the deal is. Help? |

What is this mpeg2 codec you have downloaded for XP?
I believe there are sme free ones around, but this is possibly what you are to expect if that is the case. Mpeg2 codecs have to be paid for by all the companies who make dvd playing software, so they have to charge for their programme, try buying a proper one and all should be well. If you have, which is it? -- Graham Hughes MVP Digital Media www.myvideoproblems.co.uk www.dvds2treasure.com www.simplydv.com "Cloey" wrote in message ... I have a free codec. I used this same codec on my old computer - which has
all the same programming and files as this one - and my movies played fine. I just can't figure out if this is a computer issue or if I am missing a needed program. I'd say it was your codec. I can't believe your new computer is exactly the
same as your old one, hardware/software/codecs/updates etc...... It can take only one small difference to cause problems. Try buying some proper dvd playing software. -- Graham Hughes MVP Digital Media www.myvideoproblems.co.uk www.dvds2treasure.com www.simplydv.com "Cloey" wrote in message news I have a free codec.
