multiple monitor feature not working on laptop
I am running an older micronpc - hooked up an external monitor to the back. The external monitor shows the same screen as the laptop. I can hotkey to turn off the monitor or have both the LCD and monitor work. I would like to use the external monitor and the multiple monitor feature of XP. I go to Display, but only see the default monitor - can't make changes to it at all. I do not see any of the options associated with the multiple monitor feature. I have tried turning off the monitor and having XP auto install new hardware - still shows same screen as laptop. I go to system and device manager and notice a VGA compatible driver working but unable to update the driver or make any significant changes. There is a question mark however over the icon in "other devices." Am I simply out of luck with the laptop? What can I do to run multiple monitors short of major upgrades? Thanks -- krigues |

Sounds like you need to reinstall the video drivers, try the manufacturer's site to see if they have
a driver available VGA compatible is a default one that Windows puts in when it cant find the right one to use. -- Dave Vair CNE, CNA, MCP, A+, N+ "krigues" wrote in message ...
