Default Microphone has stopped working.

Hi All,

I have a webcam with a built in microphone and it has stopped working. I
can see and hear the person I am having a video call with, but they cannot
see me. When I go through the audio/video set up, it recognises my voice and
the little green bar goes up and down. However when the two screens come up
(person I am talking at the top and me at the bottom) the mic volume is at
the bottom and is greyed out, and no matter what I do I cannot turn the
volume up.

Any tips please?
