How can I know what is the best cable, or which will work on my pc, a
Firewire 4 pin or 6-pin

Default Firewire 4-pin or 6-pin

Either..... the standard is usually 6 pin on a desktop and 4 pin on a
notebook... but if you've installed a PCI firewire card, it may have both
ports on it. Digital camcorders are almost always 4 pin.

You'll just have to look and find out what you have before purchasing the
cable.
