Sounds like you need to swap your current broadband modem with the wireless
modem. I'd contact my broadband provider for instructions. Or, you can add a wireless router to your system. the following is based on a DG834 but i believe the interface is similar
connect the router to one computer with an ethernet cable otherwise when you come to set wireless security you will lose connection. to enter the setup for the netgear router use internet explorer, in the address bar enter 192.168.0.1 assuming the router has been reset to the factory defaults the username is admin (lowercase), the password is password (lowerecase) if it is not set to the factory defaults - you will find a small button on the rear hold this in for ten seconds with the power disconnected. once in to the admin screen you will find a setup wizard link on the left hand side you will need your username and password for bt along with the following encapsulation - PPPoA multiplexing method - VC-Based VPI - 0 VCI - 38 connect your adsl lead to the adsl port on the router this should get you connected to your ADSL supplier without the need of your existing modem. the wireless setup is fairly straight forward and requires decisions from you - name of SSID, encryption level and key, mac address filtering etc i would suggest leaving security until you have both computers connected successfully then setting wep keys etc. good luck Martin "baza66" wrote in message ... "LB-5" wrote in message ... Im trying to connect 3 usb modem its responding but a message keeps coming up from bt yahoo lock saying its unknown and stops the connection can anyone help -- LB_5 I don't really understand your English or your problem, fully. Having never heard of "BT Yahoo lock" I Googled it. This modicum of research initiative gave lots of results, including the following sites: http://securityblog.itproportal.com/?p=1056 http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/forums/in...70&forumi d=1 http://www.asksomeone.net/forums/ind...showtopic=4053 In the last, "BT modem lock" is described as, "permits your modem to make an internet call only via the BTYahoo number" and someone else suggests removing "BT Internet Connection Manager" from Add/Remove Programs to stop connection problems. Failing that, try contacting BT as this isn't really an XP problem per se. |
