I'm using Windows XP Media Center 2004, and I have not been able to
defrag my hard drive for about 3 months. I can disk clean, but when I
open the defrag program, highlight the drive, and press analyse or
defrag, nothing happens. Any suggestions?

Have you tried to go to help and support and put in the query box "defrag".
This should bring up the defrag program info and let you open it completely
and should let you defrag your hard drive with no problem.

You might Google defrag programs and see if there are any free trial or free
programs available. Install and run.

Good luck and regards,

Maybe see if there's any useful information on the failure in any of the
logs in Event Viewer (Start Run eventvwr.msc)

How full is your hard disk? I've read that a certain amount of
free disk space is necessary to run defrag.

I too had a problem with Defrag in Windows XP
So I downloaded a Free Program called:

You should be able to find it on Google with no Problem

Why would I want to do that? My Disk Defragmenter works fine. If I had a problem I would resolve the problem.

Sorry Gerry, I replied to yours instead of Jyeshta. This should have been
a reply to Jyeshta.
