Default Missing Taskbar?

Just bought Windows XP. How do I get the taskbar back at the bottom of the
screen. I loved this feature with Windows 2000.

There are several possibilities for why. Here's the most likely:

The task bar is resizable, like a window. You may have accidentally
resized it to zero lines high. Put the cursor on the bottom of the
screen and move it up and down slightly until it turns into a
double-headed arrow. Then click and drag it to the size you want.

If that doesn't work, it may be zero lines high on another side of the
screen, so try on all four sides.

Finally, if none of those work, go to
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_abc.htm, click T, then under
Taskbar, click Taskbar is Missing.

The taskbar? Do you mean what I think you mean? The one with the start button?

By default, it is always at the bottom of the screen. Maybe your screen
resolution is higher than it should be. If it is loaded and you see it
somewhere other than the bottom of the screen, just drag it to the bottom of
the screen. Also, the image might not be aligned correctly. You should use
the buttons on your monitor to adjust it, but the exact procedure to do this
depends on your monitor.

Anyway, if that is not the case, have you tried restarting your computer? If
there is a long start up procedure, maybe it isn't loading. To tell if it's
running, press Ctrl+Alt+Delete to get the task manager, click on the
"Processes" tab, and check if "explorer.exe" is listed.

Default Missing Taskbar?

Hi,

First check to see if it is Locked. Right click the Task Bar and if Locked
uncheck it then simply hold down your mouse on the bar and drag it to the
bottom.

The Taskbar can be hidden.

Select Start, Control Panel, Task Bar and Start Menu and uncheck
Auto-hide Task Bar.

If dragging from the side or top unlock and drag in the area by the
clock.

Hope this helps.
