Admin access - setup--totally confused
I have XP Home. Somehow, many of my programs will not run unless I
right-click and do a "run as". I am trying to set up the soft ware (FinePix) but apparently it is under Adminstrator and I cannot get it to load or setup. What a mess. Also trying to get proper set up for CA Virus protection software, but it is a no go, apparetly due to this Adminstrator issue. Can someone help get me back to basics???? Thanks. |

Hi:
For what I understand is that you are log in your computer as a no administrative user. If you go to StartSettingsControl PanelUser Account, is your user name Administrator? -- Un saludo Juan Perez "Burgerboy1" wrote in message news I have XP Home. Admin access - setup--totally confused
Hello Juan,
Thanks for responding and offering to help. When I go to Start, there is no choice called Settings. When I go to Control Panel, and try to open User Accounts, it will not open; right click, left click on it and nothing works. Any more suggestions? I do appreciate the help! Admin access - setup--totally confused
Hi Tom:
I am bafflled. Even if you are using a limited user account, you should have access to the User Account option from the control panel. Looks like a operating system problem, beyond my knowleadge. I would suggest to open a new query. Did you have this problem since the beggining? Try to go to Startrum, type "mmc". Then you get a console, go to Fileadd/remove snap in...in the tab standalone, go to Add. then select Local Users and group. Press OK, OK, and go to Users. You will see the users you have avail. Go to Administrator and with the left mouse, select set password. There you can change the password. I tried this in a windows XP pro.I do not have a Windows XP home with me. Let me know if that works. -- Un saludo Juan Perez "Burgerboy1" wrote in message ... Hello Juan, Thanks for responding and offering to help. When I go to Start, there is no choice called Settings. Juan,
Once again, thanks for your help. I did a Startrun and typed mmc then hit enter. I tried it also hitting OK, I did not get a console as you suggested. So I have hit the wall again. Feliz Navidad!!
