Windows cannot print due to a problem with the current printer set
Hi All,
I am running Windows XP x64 SP2. I cannot print from any Microsoft Office 2007 product or Corel Draw 13. I can print from NotePad and I can print a test page. I have an HP3800n installed. The printer has the latest firmware and I have installed and reinstalled the latest drivers for this printer. I can print everything fine from other computers, just not this one. It appears that the test page process and Notepad use different methods to send to the printer as that works. Microsoft Office will not print anything to any printer. I get the same error for all printing devices. I have changed the default printer from one to another and back again. No such luck. I can click Icon-Print from Word 2007 and see the printer information. However I cannot click on the properties icon - I get the above error message. Same in Control Panel-Printers&Faxes. If I right-click on this printer and select Printing Preferences, I get a Function address 0x61d2c55 protection fault error. Short of completely reinstalling Windows XP, I am not sure what to do next. Help!! TIA, Miles -- Miles Gibson |

Windows cannot print due to a problem with the current printer set
this is an issue with the HP driver modules
I've seen this when there is registry information created by one version of the driver that is not removed when deleting the driver unless you use a the driver uninstall utility that removes the items that are not registered with the spooler process. -- Alan Morris Windows Printing Team Search the Microsoft Knowledge Base he http://support.microsoft.com/search/?adv=1 This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights. Windows cannot print due to a problem with the current printer
"Seems like you're addressing my question/post from 4/19/08, titled "Test
Page Failed to Print". I truly believe my problem is a result of an accumulation of HP Drivers over the years. I started with an HP Photosmart C1350. That worked well, then I installed an HP Photosmart All-In-One C6180. That's when all 4ell broke loose. I think my problem could have been solved early on, but HP didn't pay attention to my note that I wanted my original drivers removed. I now have like 5 drivers (some from my XP setup disks from MSFT) installed on my system. HP won't tell me how to go back to my non HP days. They abandoned me telling me this was an MS issue. Can you advise me how to clean up my HP mess without having me to go to HP? Thanks, LAN "Alan Morris [MSFT]" wrote: this is an issue with the HP driver modules I've seen this when there is registry information created by one version of the driver that is not removed when deleting the driver unless you use a the driver uninstall utility that removes the items that are not registered with the spooler process. -- Alan Morris Windows Printing Team Search the Microsoft Knowledge Base he http://support.microsoft.com/search/?adv=1 This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights.
