Default CD access by program within DOSBOX 7.2 for Windows

I'm running a DOS program within DOSBOX 7.2 for Windows. The program
runs fine except for the part of the program that asks the user to put
a CD in the drive for use by the program. I put the requested CD in
the DVD drive (D and click on the "OK" icon. Nothing appears to
happen afterward. Is there a way around this, i.e., getting CD support
for programs running within DOSBOX?

Everything will be much easier if you use a Frontend. I recommend
D-Fend Reloaded, try them all and you'll agree. See below.

As for mounting a CD drive, see the wiki page for mount:

Wiki page of the DOSBox project
Main: http://www.dosbox.com/wiki/Main_Page
Mount: http://www.dosbox.com/wiki/MOUNT

MOUNT.COM is a command inside DOSBox that can connect physical
folders and drives to virtual drives inside DOSBox.

D-Fend Reloaded 0.5.0 11.6 MB (Freeware)

D-Fend Reloaded is a graphical environment for DOSBox. DOSBox
emulates a complete computer including the DOS commandline and
allows to run nearly all old DOS based games on modern hardware
with any of the newer Windows versions.
