Boot Twice to Go
My Win XP Pro (all updates).
Used CCleaner to clean up several weeks ago. Did this before the CCleaner run. On going double boot needed to go. Power down when done. Power on then log in and get an incomplete and unfinished desktop, nothing works. Ctrl-Alt-Del brings up Process Explorer and allows me a restart. This time I am on the air so to speak. What might be going on? Any way to troubleshoot this? |

Two things must be happening: 1) you have "cleaned" up the important registry entries by using the CCleaner tool; 2) Your machine is very old and so it is time to buy a new machine with Windows 10. You may not know this but the cables inside the box have become very hard and brittle and so the efficiency is affected. Is it fair to say that you haven't changed the machine since you bought this one with Windows XP in 2001? -- With over 350 million devices now running Windows 10, customer satisfaction is higher than any previous version of windows. |

Re-seat everything that can plug in except cpu: ram, all cables, cards, etc. Check the cmos battery voltage with the machine off and power unplugged. Then run: Scandisk /f /r C: et.al. Mine sometimes does the same thing due to flakey ram due to overclocking. |

IF it's a software issue and you still can't figure it out, using System Restore is always an option - assuming you still have a backup file preceding this event. (But if this happened several weeks ago, that's probably a long shot). (and using registry cleaners is NOT recommended). |
