Default Share all Folders in XP 2 computer network?

I'm having the same problem, some of my folders are shared but others Won't
let me share them unless I go in and check them off to share separately. Is
there a way I can have all files shared without doing this. What have I
missed?

You may need to specifically share these folders, and/or allow user access
to them over the Network.

I recently posted the following post to the general Windows networking

NG,
but haven't yet seen a reply there, so I'll also post it to a few XP
newsgroups, and see if anyone can offer any insight into the following
problem:

-----------------------------

Two laptops, both running Windows XP Home
Edition, both with built-in network adapter and port, that I wanted to
transfer files between. Of course that could be done with Direct Cable
Connection, but only with a slow serial or parallel connection. (I'm
surprised that hasn't been upgraded to work with USB, Firewire, etc.)

I was advised to get a crossover network cable, and set the two laptops

up
as a home network. I have done that.

Of course, since I am the only person on the network, I wanted all files

to
be available for copying between the computers. I set the root drive of

each
computer to enable sharing, which seems to also enable all the

subfolders---

EXCEPT--The whole \Windows folder and all its subfolders is unavailable

to
the network, as is the whole \Program Files folder and all its

subfolders.

There are some files in those branches that I'd like to copy from one
computer to another. Is there any way to enable those branches for

sharing?
A registry tweak? Or do I have to use DCC and a parallel cable to

transfer
those files?

Thanks to anyone for your assistance,
Mike
