It's an ancient backup format.

Nobody needs it, because you can get a copy of
Macrium Reflect Free, install it, and
back up your computer to an external
drive for safe keeping.

Because there are *multiple* free backup tools
for WinXP or later computers, we have absolutely
no need to dabble in the old backup format that
came with WinXP.

Regardless which OS I'm using, I never use backup software. I just copy
everything to my backup drive. I do this about once a month, and have 2
backup drives, so I always have the prior backup. I'm aware that there
are certain files which are part of Windows, which can not be backed up,
but as long as I backup all my personal data, that is what matters.

The easiest way of backing up is simply to clone your C-drive (or
whatever) to another, using your favourite cloning program (indeed
including Macrium). That way, you get a complete, identical copy of
everything - including the operating system.

Backing up the entire system can (and will) really save you in some cases,
using either imaging or cloning.

Just try this BKF recovery software to restore the damaged or corrupt file in just a matter of a few minutes. This tool is one such effective solution that can repair MS Backup files created with ntbackup.exe. In fact, the tool recovers data from the BKF file without modifying the original file. - See more at: http://www.mozesoft.com/bkf-file-recovery-software.html
