Printer Problems/Compatibility

I've been using a Canon BJC-4400 printer with Windows XP
for close to a year. All of a sudden I get a message
about not being able to identify my printer cartridge.
The same one was in the printer for the past several
weeks and it has worked fine. Please Help.

The printer cartridges in the 4xxx series wear out. I've had them last as
little as 6 months, or as long as 18 (don't think any lasted longer than
that). Solution is to purchase a new cartridge. If it's the black one,
it's an all in one unit. If it's the color one, it's not the separate ink
tanks you want, it's the whole print head.
