Default USB problems

When I scan (plug-and-play) for my USB-supported printer,
my device manager creates its listing as "other device --
USB controller". It does not list it under the last

device, "USB controller". Why doesn't windows see the
printer under the USB controller that already exists in
the device manager? This is causing problem for the
printer software. I tried uninstalling the "other
devices", but each time I scan, it comes up under "other
devices". I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling all
of the printer software, but this seems to be the problem.

Did you install the software BEFORE connecting the printer?

What's the make and model of printer?
