"Found new hardware Wizard" in XP - how to get rid of it??
I have two exactly the same printers installed on my
compaq Pressario machine with XP. At startup, this new hardware wizard comes up and I can't get rid of it. Both printers work perfectly but i get the wizard. Have tried disabling, uninstalling, and everything from Device manager but nothing works? Anybody have a way to get rid of this pop up??? |

I know I already answered this problem today, but here it is again:
http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;298370 The New Hardware Wizard May Detect the Printer Device After Every Restart of the Computer Please try and read some of the other postings and their answers before you ask your question. Chances are about 95% that your question has already been asked and answered - usually several times! Cari www.coribright.com "Jeff" wrote in message ... Cari,
I for one would be willing to search more often if the search function in these newsgroups wasn't so poorly implemented. For one thing, you can't search on a string enclosed in quotes. For another, the default search criteria is to list hits that match _any_ word in the search field. It should only list hits that match _all_ words, like a proper search engine. It would also be nice to be able to exclude terms using the "-" character. The other frustrating thing is that after taking a long, long time to return results (I have a DSL/high speed connection), I get timeout error messages from the newsgroup server, suggesting that an IIS setting needs to be changed. I know you didn't design it, but how about getting someone to fix it? IIS is related to Internet Information Services, which is a webserver
software, included in XP Pro (but not in Home) which runs on your own PC when you host a website. I don't see how it is related to a newsgroup server in any shape or fashion. Secondly you are using the web interface to read the newsgroups. A MUCH easier way is to use Outlook Express where you can certainly search postings. Here are the instructions to setup Outlook Express for reading the Microsoft Newsgroups. In the News Server Box, type: msnews.microsoft.com You are NOT required to logon to these newsgroups.
