Print network error.
I am using XP Pro with Office 2000
I have a Notebook that is connected by network to a printer that hangs off a PC running Windows ME. The Printer is an HP 3820. The lastest HP (XP) drivers are installed. I have checked with HP With the Notebook connected to the network (cable) I am able to print and use both Word and Excel fine. Now the problem. After I remove the cable (Cat 5e) that connects the Notebook to the Wall outlet, and I open Word and try and make changes to Page Setup I get and error. If I open Excel and attempt to change the font I get the same error. The error is a text message call "appcompat.txt". Connect the cable again and all works fine. I have searched using Google and found that many users of XP get this error message. I appears to be with drivers. In my case I would say it is because Word and Excel cannot find the printer. The really strange thing is that if I search Mighty Microsoft I get NOTHING, they have never heard of "appcompat.txt". Does anyone have any ideas? they would be appreciated. John A |
