Default DVD don't show on the secondary monitor

When i connect my laptop to the TV and play DVDs, the
laptop's LCD shows the player and the movie inside the
player window but when i drag the player to the tv
monitor, the player its self is visible but the content
(the movie inside the player window) is not visible. all
windows show on the tv along with their contents except
the media player! the player is visible but the movie is
not. What is the problem???

Thanks

DVD software commonly uses what is called an 'overlay' to display the video
in the player. Since your secondary video output typically does not support
full hardware acceleration and features, features such as overlay do not
work except on your primary monitor. This could be a limitation of the video
chipset in the laptop or the DVD software you are using. You can try a
different brand of DVD software and see what results you get.

I'm having a similar situation but it is not limited to
just DVDs but mpegs and avi files sent to video out. I
believe I was able to do this before an xp update (about
half a year ago) but it hasn't worked since. It seems
like it is a windows media player issue since quicktime
works fine.
