Default Problem with print spooler and installing a new printer

I am trying to install a new HP Color LaserJet CM1017 MFP printer on my
computer. When I run the installation program, it does great until it hits
the print spooler, then it stalls. After working with the HP tech support,
we determined that we needed to stop the print spooler to see if this would
help. However, when I attempt to stop it, I receive an error message that
says "Could not stop the Print Spooler Service on local computer" Error 1053.

After reading several posts in this discussion group, I went to
http://members.shaw.ca/bsanders/CleanPrinterDrivers.htm and attempted to
clean my spool. However, I received an error message while trying to do this
that said "Unable to stop the Fax Service on this computer. The service
cannot accept control messages at this time."

I am clueless as to what to do as this time. I do not have a fax installed
on this computer, nor do I plan to do so. Is there any way to get rid of the
fax? Do you think that this would resolve the problem.

Thanks for any help
