Distribute TCP/IP HP Jetdirect settings accross user profiles
Hello,
I work in a DOMAIN environment at a school campus, we have a PRINT server for all our needs. Right now, we have the printers mapped into the NTuser.dat of default profile. And that's how our networked printers work for all users on campus under the domain. However, we need to setup counter-measures in case the Print server goes down. For this we have HP JETDIRECT utility, which basically setups a driver on the Windows XP machine and the port for the printer is a TCP/IP address under the label "HP JETDIRECT PORT XXXX" where X are random numbers. Is there an easy way to add the HP Jetdirect configuration onto 1 computer and then distribute it massively accross other computers? I can easily modify any default printer settings/mapped printers by modifying the NTUSER.dat file. However, the way windows XP treats HP Jetdirect as an actual printer (or so it sees it as) I am unsure. Thanks |
