Default address bar in task bar is gone

I am running XP Home Edition Version 2002 SP 3. I believe this happenned
when I installed the SP 3 download for Windows. The address bar disappeared
at the bottom of my screen in the Windows Taskbar where the Quick Launch
items are. The option to put it in by right-clicking in the task bar does
not have the Address Toolbar as an option any more. Is that a result of the
lawsuit or something? Is there any way to get it back?
Any help would be appreciated.

The Address toolbar no longer appears on the taskbar after
you install Windows XP Service Pack 3

Replace "C:\WINDOWS\System32\browserui.dll" with a version from SP2.

This is great, thanks. But anyone know where I can get the SP2 version so
that I don't have to uninstall SP3 and install it again?

It's actually the browseui.dll file and it does work but I had a very
difficult time doing it as it kept telling me the file was in use. I finally
tried save mode, got the error, but it did copy. If you can get the file in
there it will work.

this article details how to get the file copied cleanly. he also talks
about pulling browserui.dl_ off the xp cd, or get the .dll from a
friend you really trust.

Default address bar in task bar is gone

I wish I had found this information hours ago. But isn't that almost always
the case? Before I follow these instructions, however, I'd like to see if I
can get back a feature that I liked even better than having the address bar
in the task bar.

At one time, I had Live Search in place of address bar in my task bar. I
believe it may have been part of the Beta version of Live Search. And it was
great...until I upgraded to IE 7.0. Then I lost it.

Address bar was a big step down from Live Search but still far better than
the 'nothing' that I have there now.

Thanks in advance,
PKHarmon

Hi... you can use this link to download WDS (Windows Desktop Search) as a
replacement for address toolbar.
