Safe Mode (F8) doesn't work.
Using XP Home/SP2.
Initial problem was AVG wouldn't uninstall, thought it might in Safe Mode then discovered F8 didn't work, it simply carried on booting to Windows. Solved the AVG problem by finding an AVG uninstall on their site but PC still won't start in Safe Mode. Using a wireless keyboard, is this why? Must it be a wired keyboard for F8 to work? Replies appreciated. Kenny |

For example, right now, with my keyboard activated, the F6 key will start spell check if the open program has a spell checker. There is a key on the upper left of my keyboard that deactivates my keyboard and then my F6 key returns to it's normal function. Maybe your keyboard is like mine? -- JD.. |

Thanks for the replies, it is a multimedia keyboard and I had been tapping
F8 without using the F Lock key. Kenny "Jim" wrote in message ... On Wed, 4 Nov 2009 14:35:34 -0000, "Kenny" wrote: Using XP Home/SP2. Such keyboards won't work before the windows encryption software is loaded. The really good ones turn off the encryption as part of the shut down process (so they will work at boot time), but they are not all that common. Others rely on a windows driver (which obviously isn't loaded at boot time). In your case, it sounds as though a wired keyboard is required. |

Thing I couldn't figure is why the keyboard works whilst in BIOS setup which
is before Windows loads. Keny "M.I.5¾" wrote in message ... "Kenny" wrote in message ... Using XP Home/SP2.
