Default I can't delete a printer

I'm new to XP however in the past I just right mouse
clicked the printer and deleted! When I try this in
Windows XP as well as highlighting (delete printer) in

the
task bar the printer remains, when it is highlighted the
little window says (status deleting, documents: 1) Help
it's driving me nuts. Any help would be appreciated.

Thank You, Clay
.
Wow, thanks to all who replyed. Angela you were right

when I deleted the print in que I was able to delete the
printer. Why I wanted to delete? I got a new printer.
Again Thanks to everyone.

The other times I've seen this happen is when another PC is also using the
printer as a networked printer. You must go to each of the PCs in the
network and remove it from that PC BEFORE being able to delete it from the
local PC.

Just in case you might want to get adventurous in the future and connect two
or more together!
